The Trussville Senior Activity Center opened its doors on August 31, 1999. Since that time the membership has grown to around 500 senior adults and we are adding new members each week. Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., we have prided ourselves on the fact that we offer “Something for Everyone” – everyone over 55 that is! We feel that our Senior Center is among the top in the state of Alabama.
Some of the ongoing classes are Line Dance, Exercise Class, Balance Class, Yoga and Tia Chi. We also offer special classes (on demand) and have guest speakers each month.
Our facility consists of a large game room with two pool tables and many game tables, a private card room, an exercise equipment room, a coffee / TV. room, newly renovated glassed “back porch” with fireplace, and a large multipurpose room with a floating hardwood floor.
In addition to our exercise and dance classes, we have a square dance group that dances each Tuesday. We also offer at least one extended day trip each year, usually in the summer and have several special events and day trips throughout the year.
The Trussville Senior Activity Center is a host site for the Nutrition Program that is offered through United Way AAA. To qualify for this program, you must be 60 years of age or older and live in Alabama. For a $1.50 donation, seniors are able to eat a hot meal each day in the company of friends and fellow seniors.
